Everton Reserves 1 Leeds Reserves 1

Leeds were leading with 15 minutes to go when Italian defender Matteo Ferrari equalised with a volley that went over Mark Wilberforce in the United goal.

Ferrari also had an effort disallowed after an infringement for Everton but it was Leeds who had the first chance when Robert Bayly tried his luck from 20-yards after 20 minutes.

There was no keeping Ferrari out of the action when he had an header go close but the Whites went in front just before the hour mark. Blake took the ball from a short free kick in his stride as he struck from 30-yards into the corner giving Richard Wright in the Everton goal no chance at all.

Leeds should have settled the game after that when Ian Moore made Wright make a good save and the impressive Bayly just went wide with a 25-yard volley.

But Everton could have taken all 3 points themselves when Alan Kearney missed a sitter at the death, shooting straight at Wilberforce with the goal at his mercy.
