McKenzie insists the club are now in a position that they can keep hold of their best players after months of repeatedly selling their best assets.

He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "The situation is now such that we're not going to lose what you would call our star players unless they express a desire to leave and we receive an exceptional offer.

"Over the past few days we've had inquiries from clubs in Europe and England about Alan Smith, Paul Robinson and Mark Viduka. We've said thanks, but no thanks."

Leeds also revealed they rejected a bid from Inter Milan to sign Viduka on loan only last Saturday.
