Elliott To Miss Out

The 32-year-old became a free agent after turning down an offer of a new 12-month deal at Newcastle United.

He featured for the Whites in the 2-1 defeat against Hartlepool at the weekend after joining the club on trial at the end of last week.

Last month the defender dismissed speculation linking him with a move to The Middle East.

Like many home grown players from Newcastle, he began his career with Wallsend Boys Club.

When he left Tyneside he had four seasons at Bolton making 103 appearances (7 goals), the early days of which were disrupted by a broken leg suffered in Bolton's first ever game at the Reebok Stadium in September 1997.

The Newcastle trainee returned to St James' Park from Bolton on a free transfer in July 2001. Last season he featured in 17 Premiership games for the Magpies, 3 as substitute.
