It is understood that Derry, currently on loan with Championship side Crystal Palace, was contacted by Wise on New Year's Eve, amid a growing shortage of midfielders at Elland Road, but the 30-year-old is believed to have turned down his request to cut short his two-month spell at Selhurst Park.
