Defensive headache for Tel

Venables is without centre-backs Jonathan Woodgate and Lucas Radebe through injury for Thursdays game against Metalurg Zaporizhya in which Leeds have to try and hold-on-to a slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg.

Woodgate is still suffering from the hamstring problem which led to him missing Saturday's 4-1 defeat by Arsenal at Elland Road and Radebe left the ground on crutches because of swelling on his knee after the game with the Gunners.

And so, Venables has had to draft 18-year-old Matthew Kilgallon into the 20-man squad for the trip to the Ukraine.

However, Kilgallon is likely to start on the bench as Venables will probably give Michael Duberry his first start for seven months alongside Danny Mills at centre-back, with Gary Kelly and Ian Harte as the full-backs.

Midfielder Seth Johnson will also be included in the Leeds party after recovering from a knee injury.
