Defender to quit international scene

Radebe, who has 69 caps for the South African national side in the hope it will allow him to play more games for Leeds next season.

"I do get a lot of swelling on my knee and it gets really stiff, but it's a good pain because I got it through what I love most, playing football. There's no better pain than that," he said.

"We have had some ups and downs with the club, but since I have been here I have got really attached to the club.

"Sometimes it hurts when the club isn't doing so well. But I think we've showed a lot of character.

"With the new manager coming in as well I didn't want to be left behind. I always want to make sure I can contribute to the club as long as I can and do the best I can for the manager and the club.

"I think now it's crucial for me that next season I focus more on the club than the national team."
