O'Leary was sacked on Thursday after a four-year stint as Leeds' manager at Elland Road.

His controversial dismissal, however, has been surrounded by various stories about the REAL reason for his departure. Rumours that O'Leary and the Leeds board had suffered a different in opinion over Ferdinand's future being one of the more common explanations.

Ferdinand has been linked to a £30million-plus move to Old Trafford after excellent performances for England recently in the World Cup. Last week he spoke out about the situation in a Sunday newspaper column saying that whilst he believed the Leeds board would be likely to accept a £30million offer, he was personally against any such sale.

Yesterday O'Leary insisted that he has no regrets regarding his Ferdinand sale viewpoint. "I stand by everything I said," he said. "I cannot say any more at this moment because there are still matters that need to be resolved between my lawyer and Leeds."
