Dan James joins Fulham on loan from Leeds

Fulham have completed the signing of Dan James on loan from Leeds United.

The Wales international had been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road at the back end of the transfer window.

90min reported earlier this week that Tottenham were in talks with Leeds over a move for the winger, but could not agree terms with the West Yorkshire club.

That allowed Fulham to swoop in on deadline day and agree a loan deal with Leeds, with the Cottagers confirming the deal in the final hours of the transfer window.

Speaking to Fulham club channels, James said: “I’m looking forward to it!

“I’ve spoken to the Gaffer and it feels like a great fit for me, and I can’t wait to get started.”

James, who came close to joining Leeds in 2019, eventually signed for them from Manchester United last summer, but failed to live up to expectations as his new side struggled and only just avoided relegation.

Both sides were interested in signing Marseille forward Bamba Dieng, with Leeds agreeing a fee and personal terms, but they backed out of a deal after Nice appeared to turn his head. Dieng would later fail a medical and remain at OM.

Fulham have also brought in Layvin Kurzawa, Willian and Carlos Vinicius on deadline day, while they switched their attentions to James after Justin Kluivert was denied a work permit earlier this week.
