Currie Targeted By Leeds

Currie was one of the few success stories for the Tractor Boys last season and, according to the Sunday People, is just the kind of ball-playing, left-sided player Leeds are looking for after failing to land Tottenham's Andy Reid.

Currie is related to former Leeds legend Tony and started his career at West Ham United but left Upton Park without making a single appearance.

He was loaned to Shrewsbury Town and Leyton Orient then, in 1998, moved to Plymouth on a short term deal before leaving for Barnet on a free transfer. During his three years with the Bees he scored 19 league goals in 127 games before moving on to Wycombe in 2001 for £200k.

Currie played over 100 games and scored 18 goals before leaving in 2004 following Wycombe's relegation to League Two.

He joined Brighton that summer on a year long contract before Ipswich signed him in December 2004 for £250k, marking his debut for Town with two goals in a 4-2 win over QPR.
