The summer transfer window closes on Friday, and Leeds have so far failed to recruit their key targets after seeing bids for Hibernian defender Rob Jones and Tranmere winger Steve Davies rejected.

Wise is expected to return with improved offers for both players this week, and may also bid for Blackpool full-back Shaun Barker.

"We've put offers in for certain players, and people know who they are. We're still trying to go back because they're the players that we've singled out and the players that we'd like to sign. I hope we get them because we need them."
