Crowe, who put his own money into Australian rugby league club the South Sydney Rabbitohs back in 2006, caused a major stir earlier this year when, in response to a Twitter question, he asked the club's fans if he should buy the club.
However, he looked to have ruled that out on Tuesday in a series of posts on the social media platform, citing the potential impact on his family.
The 51-year-old, a self-confessed Leeds fanatic with 1.8m followers, tweeted thus:
