Leeds United have confirmed that Liam Cooper has signed a new four year deal with the club.
The new contract signed by the 25 year-old will see the centre-back remain at Elland Road until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Cooper started his career with Hull City and had loan spells with Carlisle United, Huddersfield Town and Chesterfield, before signing permanently with the Spireites.
He moved from the Proact Stadium to Elland Road in August 2014 and has gone on to make 91 appearances for the Whites, scoring two goals.
Cooper has captained the club on several occasions during his time at Leeds and led the team out in last Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship opener against Bolton Wanderers last weekend.
He becomes the latest United player to sign a new contract with the club in the past two weeks, following Tyler Denton, Kalvin Phillips and Gaetano Berardi.
