Cook Back In January Window?

Bournemouth paid £7m for the midfielder in the summer and the deal could rise to £10m through add-ons.

However, recent speculation seems to suggest the teenage midfielder could be sent out on loan in the New Year with the Whites amongst the front runners to have him back at Elland Road.

A product of the Leeds United academy, Cook made 85 appearances for United, scoring 2 goals.

He featured under 5 coaches for the Whites, making his debut at Millwall as a substitute under Dave Hockaday. He was also crowned ‘Football League Player of the Year’ last season.

The unexpected loan arrival of Jack Wilshere from Arsenal has moved Cook down the pecking order under coach Eddie Howe with Harry Arter and Andrew Surman also being preferred ahead of the 19-year-old.

Cook has only played three times for the Cherries with two of those appearances being in League Cup competition.

It is being reported that the South Coast club would be willing to send Cook out on loan with his old club strong favourites to sign him.

Some of these reports also point out that Cook would fit back and improve the Leeds line-up but I say; Would Cook go straight back into the team just five months after he left?

Eunan O’Kane, who ironically made the opposite move to Cook from Bournemouth to Leeds on transfer deadline day in August, has been a key player since making his debut against Blackburn Rovers. The Whites have won 5 of the 6 games played since he came into the side.

He has been performing exceptionally well for the club since making the move and is now stepping up to the role of leader in the midfield with skipper Liam Bridcutt currently out of action.

Ronaldo Vieira, another academy product, has also moved up to the first team and has impressed the Leeds faithful so far this season along with Kalvin Phillips in the midfield engine room.

Meanwhile Alex Mowatt & Matt Grimes have struggled to get into the team already this season with Luke Murphy & Toumani Diagouraga banished from the squad all together.

So while a return to Leeds in the transfer window in the New Year would be pleasing there will be no certainty he would be back immediately in the side so long as the Whites keep up their current form under Garry Monk.
