Clipper, based in Leeds, was founded by lifelong fan and executive chairman Steve Parkin, who has been linked with a possible takeover of the club on several occasions.

"The new agreement will see the Clipper name adorn the highly-visible gable ends of the stand along with the front roof fascia of the stand itself, ensuring the Clipper name is seen by the circa 30 million vehicles which pass the stadium each year, as well as fans in the stadium and television audiences worldwide," the club said on its official website.

Parkin, also co-owner of National League side Guiseley, was close to buying the club a decade ago, held talks with Leeds' former owner Gulf Finance House about a possible buy-out in the spring of 2013 and late last year was reported to be interested in investing in the club.

Parkin said: "As a lifelong Leeds fan, I'm delighted to have the business I've built over the past two decades become a sponsor of the club.

"It will expose the Clipper name to a global audience, as we continue to grow as a business and help shape the future of retail logistics.

"This association is a great partnership between Clipper and Leeds United, and I look forward to seeing it flourish."

Leeds' executive director Paul Bell added: "We are delighted that Clipper Logistics Plc has chosen to sponsor the East Stand here at Elland Road.

"Clipper was founded in Leeds and has been a huge success story for the region, expanding across the UK and into Europe.

"We are delighted to welcome them into our commercial partner's programme. We look forward to working with Steve and the rest of the Clipper team on this partnership."
