Clapham Loan Deal

Clapham, who can also play as a wide midfielder, has accepted an initial one-month deal and is set to be added to the squad for tomorrow's League One meeting with Southend United at Elland Road.

The 31-year-old is out of favour at Molineux despite playing in Wolves' pre-season games, and boss Mick McCarthy sanctioned his temporary move this morning.

Leeds require more defensive options, and also strength in midfield, although Shaun Derry has been given the green light to step up his training and could be available inside a month or so.

Clapham's arrival has also increased rumours that Eddie Lewis is poised to leave. The popular American full-back, who has made 95 appearances for the Whites during two seasons at Elland Road, has been linked with Stoke City and Clapham's arrival could now signal his exit.
