Charles Knighthood Snubbed

The efforts of Leeds supporters, in particular, in making the case for the Leeds and Wales legend, who died in February at the age of 72, to have the honour bestowed on him fell on deaf ears.

Viv Shilton, a West Midlands based Whites fan, sent in a nomination for the Gentle Giant to the Cabinet Office's ceremonial branch with the support of all the members of the Marching On Together internet forum (www.motforum.com), of which she is a member.

The Home Office responded that they did not award posthumus knighthoods, although certain exceptions had been made in the past, and could not comment further.
