Charles required the operation on Tuesday after suffering a burst blood vessel.
The problem occurred just before the 72-year-old was due to appear on an Italian sports tv programme.
He collapsed prior to going on and was taken to Milan's San Carlo hospital where he needed an emergency two-hour operation on his heart.
Charles was visited by friends and family today with doctors describing his condition as 'normal'.
Charles is still idolised in Italy and was on a promotional tour of the country.
