Carver Staying On At Leeds

This is after being linked with the vacant managerial post at Carlisle.

Carver, brother-in-law to former Leeds defender Peter Haddock, joined Leeds 12 months ago after leaving Newcastle United.

He spent much of his career at Newcastle where he was assistant to Sir Bobby Robson, but after a 15-year coaching career on Tyneside, it came to an end with the arrival of Graeme Souness as boss.

Carver replaced Steve Agnew at Leeds who left to become assistant manager at Hartlepool, and he was warmly received by the United players.

Robson was reportedly looking to take him into the Republic of Ireland set-up after being handed an advisory role with new boss Steve Staunton. This did not come to fruition however.

It has been widely rumoured that he was to become Kevin Blackwell's right hand man now that Sam Ellis left the club recently.
