On that visit in '97, in front of a crowd of 10,857, we were defeated 2-1 by The Robins in a Coca-Cola 2nd Round 2nd Leg fixture, with Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink scoring for United in the 7th minute and Greg Goodridge replying in the 41st minute. Shaun Taylor scored the winner in the 61st minute.

Striker Hasselbaink was also sent off on the half hour for violent conduct, when he reacted angrily to a foul by Brian Tinnion.

Luckily, Leeds had won the 1st Leg at Elland Road on the 17th Sept 3-1 to go through 4-3 on aggregate, with goals from David Wetherall, Hasselbaink again, and Bruno Ribeiro. Shaun Goater got City's only goal that night.

George Graham had just completed his 1st year in charge at Elland Road and John Ward was six months into his reign at City.
