Brighton Away Moved (Again)

Leeds United fans have been given YET another Friday night treck to Brighton in December after three fixtures before the end of the year were moved for live broadcasts by Sky Sports.

United’s visit to The Amex, originally scheduled for Saturday, December 10, has been brought forward to Friday, December 9 and will kick off at 7.45pm.

Both of Leeds’ forthcoming meetings with Aston Villa have also been rearranged.

The home clash with Villa on Saturday, December 3 will now start at the later time of 5.30pm while their New Year’s Eve trip to Villa Park has been moved to Thursday, December 29 (ko 7.45pm).

The trip to Villa Park falls between a Boxing Day visit to Preston North End and a home game with Rotherham United on Monday, January 2.

Massimo Cellino was incensed the last time the Brighton game was moved (that time to a Monday night, February 29th 2016).

The controversial Leeds chairman was then embroiled in a bitter dispute with the Football League over television rights.

Leeds said then they were in favour of collective bargaining with reports at the time suggesting the club wanted to negotiate an individual TV contract but this proved unlikely under the terms of the League deal they signed to.

Expecting Leeds’ massive support to travel to Brighton on a Friday does not seem to come into consideration now. But, do you know what, they will. And TV & the league knows that!
