Bridges Over Troubled Waters

"Bridgey is driving me mad at the moment because he is desperate for a game," admitted Reid to the Yorkshire Post. "We have had to hold him back at the minute just to make sure he is ready.

"He has a brilliant attitude, which is a major plus because he has had three very serious injuries. Things are going well for him at the moment, he does look very good in training but, to be honest, we are still erring on the side of caution."

Reid knows what his returning forward is capable of after managing him at previous club Sunderland, and has strenuously denied the player is about to be sold for £1m to rivals Newcastle.

Bridges has a very important role to play for Leeds this season, he has an ability to score goals from any angle and his partnership with Mark Viduka could prove more beneficial than that with Alan Smith, who has struggled to find the net on a regular basis in the Premiership.

Reid is possibly as keen as Bridges to see what the player can do but has so far resisted throwing his man into action. One thing is for sure; if he produces the form from his first season then Leeds certainly won't struggle for goals.
