The 36-year-old striker suffered a shoulder injury against Plymouth in December and following a scan was expected to be out of action for up to six weeks.
Kevin Blackwell though has stated that he has a good chance for this weekend after responding well to rest and treatment.
More will be known when he returns to training tomorrow. Deane is currently United's leading scorer on seven goals.
