Bremner 'Bribe' Resurfaces Again

Bremner won £100k in libel damages when he sued former Wolves player Danny Hegan, after he accused him of a bribe during a fixture between the two clubs in 1972.

Leeds had just won the FA Cup against Arsenal and if they had beaten Wolves a couple of days later they would have achieved the famous 'double'.

Wolves duly won 2-1 and the title went to Derby County instead.

The book quotes Hegan's team-mate Frank Munro as saying Bremner offered £5k if he would concede a penalty to assist Leeds.
