Blackpool Report Leeds United

Blackpool announced that they had 'reluctantly' submitted a complaint to the Football League after Leeds confirmed Grayson as their new boss.

United and Blackpool failed to agree compensation for Grayson, who had 18 months of his deal at Bloomfield Road left to serve, after Leeds made their interest known on Sunday, and Grayson attempted to resolve the impasse by resigning yesterday morning.

Blackpool's board, headed by chairman Karl Oyston, refused to accept his hand-delivered letter of resignation, but Leeds moved to finalise Grayson's arrival shortly after noon, insisting he was a free agent.

Oyston was deeply reluctant to lose his manager and is believed to want a six-figure sum in compensation for Grayson, who was appointed at Bloomfield Road in 2006.

They are also considering taking legal action against Grayson for breach of contract.

A statement released by Blackpool said: "The board feel Leeds United have acted completely unprofessionally and underhandedly and have shown a total disregard for the rules and regulations that govern football."
