Defender Bailey Camfield nearly opened the scoring in the first half with a shot that saw the Rovers keeper produce a fine save.

But Simon Madden scored the only goal with 20 minutes remaining, when the right-back tapped home, following a Nick Gray shot that came back off the woodwork.

Simon Walton held the back line firm, he was the only player with any proper first team experience in the side, and he made a goal-line clearance early in the second half after a shot from Blackburn's Gary Stopforth deflected over keeper Mark Wilberforce.

Lorenzo Amoruso made his first full appearance in 6 months for Rovers.
