Best Yet To Come From Young Luke

Murphy opted for a three-year deal at Elland Road in June after Crewe had accepted reported bids of over £1m from Leeds, Blackburn and Wolves.

But the 24-year-old has failed to hit the same heights that earned him a place in the League One Team of the Year at the end of his final season at Gresty Road.

"It's taking me a bit of time to settle in," said Murphy, who recently apologised for a glaring miss in the West Yorkshire derby defeat at Huddersfield.

"I was at Crewe for 17 years and that's all that I knew - the Crewe way.

"Crewe are a small club with three or four thousand at games. This at Leeds is completely new to me.

"I'm taking it all in and I knew it wouldn't happen for me overnight but I'm getting there now.

"I don't think people have seen the best of me yet and it does take time to show that.

"Score a few more goals, create a few more chances and then I'll be happy."
