Bates Blasts 'Inexplicable' Deal

The deal was agreed so Mark Viduka could get off the Elland Road pay-roll but Bates has blasted the agreement made by the previous board.

Bates said in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It was a deal done before my time. It happened because they needed to get rid of Viduka and I find it totally inexplicable."

If Leeds do go up they will also have to pay £2.5m to the club's former bondholders and will be liable to a further £2m in contingency payments.
