Barmby Wants Leeds Future

The former Everton, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Tottenham star said: "I know I'm very fortunate in my work. I love my job, training and going in. I want to play. The main thing I have to prove is I have a future at Leeds.

"Without a doubt you only have to win two games and you're in mid-table. It's very tight, except the top three, but you can put a run together, and you're way up there.

"Obviously there is talk in the dressing room, but the main thing is we stick together and get on with it.

Barmby was at Hull’s Division Three game with Bury on Saturday at the KC Stadium, at the same time as Leeds were taking on Chelsea, but the 29-year-old dismissed any disloyalty to his team-mates.

"I have been to every first team home game this season, willing the lads to do well and getting behind them,” said Barmby on Sky Sports News.

"But last Saturday I was at Hull because my son had tickets in a box there and I was there to take him home and everything.

"I’ve heard that I’ve gone cold towards Leeds, but that’s not true at all.

"I am committed to Leeds United. Nothing has changed for me in that respect. I have two years left on my contract and I just want to play for the club.

"I will keep working hard and doing my best in the reserves to try and get a chance again. I haven’t given up and I will keep going."

Meanwhile a Hull City club spokesman said on the likelihood of Barmby joining The Tigers was 'highly unlikely', they said: "He is a local lad and gets down here as often as possible but there is nothing more to it than that. It would be highly unlikely he would want to move from Leeds to Division Three."
