Leeds attempted to bring in Bamba Dieng from Marseille on deadline day, agreeing a fee with the club and personal terms with the player.
However, while waiting at the airport, Dieng was contacted by Nice over a move and Leeds subsequently backed away from a deal.
The Senegal striker would go on to fail a medical, though a deal is not dead yet due to Ligue 1's transfer rules outside of the window.
