It has been confirmed that Bakke has been ruled out with cruciate ligament damage.
The Norway international sustained the injury during Saturday’s pre-season friendly 1-0 win over Swedish part-timers Pitea.
"This is bitterly sad news for Eirik, particularly after his problems of last season," said Blackwell. "Obviously, we all hope he is able to return as swiftly as possible."
The loss of Bakke adds to Blackwell's problems in midfield as he is also without another influential player in Seth Johnson.
Johnson also sustained a serious knee injury towards the end of last season and is not due to return until January.
