Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has returned to Leeds on a two-year contract following Rob Green's departure to Huddersfield.

Leeds announced the arrival of Lonergan on a free transfer shortly after, with the 33-year-old returning to Elland Road having left fellow Sky Bet Championship side Wolves in the summer.

Lonergan's last spell at Leeds came between 2011 and 2012, when he made 35 league appearances for the club.

Thomas Christiansen has now opted to bring the journeyman goalkeeper back to the club to rival Felix Weildwald and Bailey Peacock-Farrell for his No 1 spot after the departure of Green.

Christiansen had made an impressive start since taking over from Garry Monk this summer, with Leeds currently third in the Championship and unbeaten after five matches.
