An Away Day For Gray

Gray has been training with Charlton for the past three weeks, scoring in their pre-season friendly against Queens Park Rangers, while Leeds have also shown an interest.

Gray fears that he may have missed out on a future at The Valley and has become frustrated at Palace's determination to hold out for a £750k compensation package for him.

Even though he is out of contract, any player aged under 24 on 30 June must wait a further year before being entitled to a free transfer if they want to move to another English club.

However, under Fifa rules, Gray could still move abroad on a free transfer and clubs in Germany and Spain are said to have shown an interest in him.

That, however, would mean Palace missing out entirely on any compensation payment and they could therefore be persuaded to settle for a lower fee.

He is still keen to stay in this country but, if the frustrating situation continues, would consider a move abroad to keep on playing.
