Final figures have confirmed an average decline in attendances at Elland Road of 7,000 per game despite United being in the race for automatic promotion for much of the season.

Ken Bates increased ticket prices last summer despite objections from fans and disgruntled supporters appear to have voted with their feet as Leeds posted a 23% drop in attendances from the previous season.

Harvey told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "We accept that crowds have dropped this season. But there are reasons for that and it's more complicated than simply taking one figure and saying it's bigger than another.

"You have to compare apples with apples. The price of season tickets was always intended to achieve the best results for Leeds United and ensure our long-term financial security. We're moving forward and we're very grateful for the support we've had. I'm sure our fans will continue to do that."
