Midfielder Rachel McArthur has joined from League Champions Arsenal, defender Jess Wright from Fulham and defender Sophie Bradley has signed from Nottingham Forest.

Manager Julie Chipchase was delighted with all three signings and to finally have McArthur aboard.

"I've chased Rachel McArthur for a few seasons, she is a quality midfield player," said the United boss. "She will strengthen our midfield and can get in the box to score goals".

As a player with 15 England caps, and winner of every domestic honour, there was no shortage of offers for Rachel when she decided to leave Arsenal.

"I've always liked the way they play and have always got on well with the manager so I was pleased to come here," McArthur explained. "I'm looking forward to playing with people like Sue Smith and Nat Preston, but there are so many good players here. I think we can match the likes of Charlton and Everton in the league and hopefully get to the final of one of the cups".

In Sophie Bradley, Leeds have acquired one of the most talented young defenders in the country who after establishing herself at England U17 level has broken into the U19 squad, earning two caps already.

"She is very strong, always seems to be in the right place, a solid defender, can read a game and what's important for us because of the way we play, is that she can play out from the back. Sophie is still young and has a lot of talent with a great future ahead of her and I think she will be a great asset for us" added Chipchase.

Having been with Forest since the age of 11, it was a difficult decision for Bradley. However, she saw it as an opportunity to fulfil an ambition.

"I just wanted to push myself. It has always been a dream to play in the National Division," she admitted.

Jess Wright, who has been capped at both U19 and U21 level with England and is also former captain of Fulham has also signed on with Leeds.

"We had to compete with a few other clubs to ensure Jess signed for Leeds, She is a great organiser with excellent communication skills. Not just organising the back four but the whole team. She is going to be another great addition for Leeds United. Jess is still young but has a lot of experience already playing in the top flight," added Chipchase.

Chipochase feels that the players the club have added over the summer bode well for the season ahead.

"I think we've got the type of blend that you need to play in the top division. Bringing in players like these, it says a lot for Leeds United. It says a lot for how we have progressed that these types of players want to come and join us and be a part of what we are doing," concluded Chipchase.
