Leeds 'keeper Carly Telford, formerly of Sunderland, was on fine form to deny the Belles with some excellent saves.

Nicole Emmanuel gave Leeds a 30th minute lead, which Carla Cantrell cancelled out at the start of the second period.

Amanda Barr restored the advantage just ten minutes later, with Katie Holtham ensuring a league double over the Belles with a third on 78 minutes, before Vicky Exley replied at the end.

The result sees Leeds leapfrog Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton into fourth place in the Premier League table.
