MYANMAR TRIP Day 3 Blog.
Some of the lads had lasted until 330am which is a big ask for even the A team drinkers here. Thought 130am for me was an achievement. Good night sleep in what is a top, top hotel. A bit of a lay in and Brian and I make breakfast just before 10.
I step out of the lift and think I know him?
It’s gone but I will remember. Now I have been in some top hotels but the selection here is wow. Beats the Royal Scot in London by a country mile. Try a few items I did not know and liked them. I have a bacon and peppers omelette to die for with prawn balls and a wicked dip. It was Heckinbottom I remember now. Team are in private dining a few of us have a massive restaurant to ourselves. Fuelled up its business time I arrange to meet
Keith Gaunt to go newspaper hunting. We also decide to go to the Shewedagon Pagoda temple 1st.Again I have seen some of the seven wonders of this world but this was another wow. We have locals wanting pictures it’s a slow process. We must take shoes and socks off and the tiles are like Marbella beach in August. Seeing Keith hopping was funny. There were enough steps into it to make Rocky happy during his training. I thought cramp tonight.
Enjoyed the trip saw Roy and .
We jump a taxi the roads are mad and he understands our needs. We are delivered to a supermarket. Buy the papers back to Novotel. Or so we thought, not far from hotel the taxi gets rammed from behind with damage to the back we pay up and get another taxi. It had a right old crack in the bumper but something told me the way they drive this was not the first time it had happened. Mission over we head to the pool bar pre-match. Lads are chilling and drinking good preparation. It had been left to The Myanmar FA to sort the tickets out and you can only thank them for Free Tickets. They only did a team-sheet for the game and so did their Supporters Club so better than nowt. Not sure my choice of caipirinha was wise as 2 for 1. Its 4pm and we had been warned that the traffic would be bad. It was. Coach is here LUTV want to film us enroute giddy kippers we are off. Outside the coach someone says to Pete Jenkinson have you forgotten something? Yes, Tony Short had been left in reception. Pete is now officially the worst helper ever. We arrive at the ground and I am thinking (they think we are the team).Straight into the game we had been asked for a photo shoot but they took us up Newcastle type steps (diff cramp tonight) straight to our seats over one hour to kick off .Back down the steps got a few flags back out of ground to where we find in a local hotel the rest of the gang of travellers .little
Michael Hewitt as you would expect .Kev Hunt and gang. Harrogate John is there also. A local is spitting tobacco on the floor we move away dirty pig. Quick drink and into the humidity. Bad enough watching glad I’m not playing. Everyone is Friendly the BBC are still in my opinion trying to be negative and provoke a comment.
Here is a comment. We support our team no matter where no matter when.
Leave the match report to others as the kids do ok. Undone by a cross and close header and a dodgy home team pen. It was left to Edmondson to provide a ray of light with his all action game.
Lost 1-2 with Saiz scoring a pen. Back to base we split up drinkers and eaters then regroup in sports bar where team are chilling. No bad words team and management have been ok with us. Leave lads doing what they do best that’s drinking until they close. Weather had drained me and the meal I retire at midnight and yes, I got cramp.
