Ireland Pre-Season Tour: Day 4

Last updated : 16 July 2016 By Michael Hewitt

Friday and our group will be complete with 30 with the arrival of Macca and his wife from Oxford.

A lazy morning, another breakfast in the bag, although 'Tommy tourist' is rough and winning 'drunk of the night' award.

Today we are heading for the Guinness warehouse tour, just a few of the South Kirkby lads and Danny Daniel Brown.

Alex had never been and it had been upgraded since my last visit. You could not sneak back in for the samplers like we did last time. After climbing so many stairs I was ready for the pint at the end.

We found Tony Short ,Ray and Jack Hinchliff and Danny in the nearest pub. Ray in pigs heaven. 1960s music, racing on TV,and a bookies runner. Never seen him so happy. That changed with two lasts and 30 euro lost!

Some were going to the Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians game that night so we went back to hotel.

Lads who were staying went down to Baggot street,I waited to go to game. Then I decided to kick game in to touch and walked the 15 minutes to find the lads.

Not in any of the pubs going down to Odonogues.

I did however find Gary Edwards, Bob Bob Liddle ,Tony Winstanley ,Danny Page, Tom Tom Longbottom and Daniel Cartwright. Had a great night talking with the Guinness flowing before my lads arrived later.

Danny Cartwright says 'you know my dad Roger.' Not seen Roger for some time (Last Arsenal cup tie) and it proves to be a small world. We manage one more pub, then Bob and I are off back to hotel.

We see Jack and have a chip and decide we want some. Bad move, it's crap and now raining!

Alex bless him has picked up tomorrow's tickets and programmes saving a job. Shamrock had won 3-1, not sure what time it is.

Time for bed.
