1958 – Born March 12 in Carlisle.

1976
– Makes his professional debut for Ipswich Town during the 1976-77 campaign, and wins the FA Cup in 1978. Spends a short spell on loan with Luton.

1979
– Joins Aston Villa after 43 appearances for Ipswich. Villa win the European Cup three years later. Transfers to Luton for another loan spell during the 1982-83 season.

1983
– Moves from Villa Park to Barnsley where he produces a strike-rate of 24 goals from 45 appearances.

1984
– Joins Birmingham City and spends three seasons at St Andrews.

1987
– Leaves Birmingham to sign for Shrewsbury, and joins Swindon the following year.

1990
– Transfers to Darlington from Swindon. Following his retirement from professional football, Geddis goes on to secure the position of reserve-team manager at Middlesbrough.

2001
– Departs Boro after Steve McClaren's appointment as manager prompts a backroom reshuffle. Joins Newcastle United's coaching staff.

2004
– Leaves Newcastle in September in the wake of Sir Bobby Robson's sacking. Offers his services to England and is employed as one of Sven Goran Eriksson's scouts.

2006
– Travels with England to the World Cup in Germany, where Eriksson's side are beaten in the quarter-finals. Leaves the national team at the beginning of July to take over as Leeds United's reserve team coach.
