United's squad was a mixture of reserves and juniors with French U21 international Garra being given another game as a trialist.

Town took the lead at Wetherby Road when Leeds' Josh Vermooten was adjudged to have fouled Kirk Jackson inside the area.

Keeper Mark Wilberforce first saved the penalty but could not stop the rebound with Danny Holland, saving his blushes, converting and then Jackson himself quickly doubled the score from 12-yards, all this within the first twenty minutes.

Jonathan Howson, who has been in good form pre-season, pulled one back for the Whites just after half-time and Sam Hird then equalised from a great header two minutes later.

United made five changes and new keeper Jonathan Lund was beaten in the closing minutes when Town must have thought they had bagged a famous win with substitute James McGarry hitting a third after just coming on.

But Robert Bayly made sure Leeds got at least a draw when he superbly struck home that late leveller from 25-yards just as the referee played out added time.
