Shelbourne 1-1 Leeds United

Skipper for the night Paul Huntington's header at the end of the first half cancelled out Anthony Flood's 23rd-minute strike and maintained United's unbeaten pre-season record after four games.

Gary McAllister named trialist striker Luciano Becchio in his starting line-up and also gave Canadian forward Marcus Haber another outing as a substitute, while a fiery game saw four of United's players booked.

McAllister and his assitant Steve Staunton were given plenty of food for thought, however, as Leeds ended their short tour of Ireland with a less than impressive draw against Shelbourne in front of over 3,000 spectators at Tolka Park.

The result came at a price for the promotion-chasing Reds though as top striker Anto Flood was carried off on a stretcher with what looked like a bad injury.

For the Leeds fans, the pre-match excitement surrounded the appearance of trialist Becchio, an Argentinian who counts Barcelona as one of his former clubs.

Becchio was close to getting on the scoresheet on a couple of occasions but it was centre-half and captain Huntington who levelled things up for the visitors right on the stroke of half-time when he tucked the ball home from a corner, Flood having given Shels the lead.
