Leeds United 3 (Lasogga 46, 62, Roofe 55) Millwall 4 (O’Brien 18, Gregroy 42, Elliott 87, Wallace 90+1)

Leeds United suffered a first defeat in six at Elland Road, as Jed Wallace scored an injury time winner to sink the ten man Whites, despite a valiant second half effort.

The visitors had the first shot on goal straight from kick off, but Wiedwald palmed away Aiden O’Brien’s curling effort, after he was played into the box by Steve Morison.

Lasogga had the chance to put Leeds in the lead, when he had a free header in the box, following a cross by Pablo Hernandez, but he could only head straight at Jordan Archer.

Kalvin Phillips then created a great chance for Leeds, he superbly won the ball on the edge of the box with a sliding tackle, before playing Lasogga through on goal, but once more he couldn’t beat the Millwall stopper.

It was then the turn of Ezgjan Alioski, he did well down the right, before cutting inside, but his low shot was saved by Archer.

The action quickly switched to the other end when Morison played Lee Gregory into a good position, he got past Liam Cooper, before going through on goal, but could only fire wide.

Millwall thought they had taken the lead in the 15th minute, when a Jed Wallace volley from the edge of the box found the net, but it was ruled out by a late offside flag.

However, it took Millwall less than a minute to go ahead, when O’Brien headed home at the far post from a Morison cross.

The Lions then had a wonderful chance to make two from a free-kick, but O’Brien’s header landed on the top of the net.

Millwall continued to threaten and Jake Cooper had a chance from a corner but his header went over.

The visitors almost added a second from another set-piece, this time Shaun Hutchinson’s header clipped the top of the crossbar, following a corner.

United’s day then went from bad to worse, George Saville was caught by Cooper in a sliding challenge and following a long period of debate, United’s captain was shown a straight red card.

Millwall then made it two, when Gregory slid home to tap in Morison’s cross at the back post.

But for Wiedwald, the visitors could have gone into the break further ahead, but he superbly denied Wallace.

Half Time: Leeds United 0-2 Millwall

Leeds made the perfect start to the second period, Kemar Roofe did really well on the wing, before picking out Lasogga in the box, who fired home his sixth goal of the season.

Debutant Laurens De Bock almost levelled for Leeds, he made a good run and Roofe picked him out, but he was denied from a narrow angle.

United again had their stopper to thank, when Wiedwald was again called into action, this time denying a Gregory header at a Millwall corner.

Leeds then made it 2-2 when Archer could only spill De Bock’s cross, there was a massive goalmouth scramble involving Lasogga, Alioski and Roofe, with the latter poking home, as Elland Road burst into life.

The Whites almost got a third, when Hernandez drove upfield, he fired just off target from the edge of the box.

Unbelievably Leeds then did turn the game on its head when Lasogga scored his second goal of the game, with a fine strike from 25 yards, sparking huge celebrations amongst the home fans.

Millwall made changes following the Leeds goal and former United forward Tom Elliott had a chance with a header, but it went just past the post.

The visitors set-pieces again troubled Leeds, this time United substitute Stuart Dallas cleared off the line to deny Gregory.

However, the hosts went level, with three minutes of normal time remaining, Tom Elliott found space in the penalty area and fired low past Wiedwald.

The game was then won in stoppage time, when the visitors hit Leeds on the counter attack and Jed Wallace’s deflected effort gave Wiedwald no chance, to break United hearts.
