Guiseley 2-1 Leeds United Reserves

A minute's silence was held vefore the game for murder victim Adam Chadwick, a United fan who played for Guiseley at U-19 and reserve level.

Fabian Delph was the pick of a lacklustre United side, but the evening's star turn was provided by diminutive striker David Brown, who scored both Guiseley's goals.

In front of a crowd of 780, United, including Ben Parker, Seb Carole and Ian Westlake, got off to a positive start and went ahead after just five minutes when Chris Ovington finished neatly from Oliver Hotchkiss' pass.

Guiseley, expected to be among the title contenders in their division this season, struggled to get hold of the ball early on, but were level against the run of play on 14 minutes when a mistake by Andrew Milne allowed Adam Muller to get clear and Brown fired home from his cross.

The goal lifted the home side's confidence and Brown went close again on 17 minutes when his snap shot clipped a post and went wide following some flowing football on the edge of the area.

United keeper Alan Martin reacted quickly to save Brice Tiani's deflected shot, but Guiseley were in front on 26 minutes when Martin could only parry Muller's drive and Brown slotted in the rebound.

Leeds' best chance to equalise came 10 minutes before the interval when Delph broke clear with only Piotr Skiba to beat, but the keeper made a good block with his legs.

After an open first half, both managers made a series of changes after the break and neither team really threatened, though United keeper Martin had to react quickly to save a shot from Mark Whitehouse.
