YEP Player Ratings

Last updated : 17 January 2016 By Phil Hay

Marco Silvestri: Didn’t need to concede the corner before Wednesday’s first goal and shipped their second with a feeble fumble. His kicking caused problems too. 3/10

Scott Wootton: Wednesday might have been expected to target him as Ryan Fraser did at Ipswich last week but they got very little change out of Wootton. 6/10

Giuseppe Bellusci: Forestieri clearly had it in mind to get in Bellusci’s face and unsettle him. There were times when those tactics worked but Bellusci never lost his head completely. 6/10

Liam Cooper: Looked like he had scored late on, only for referee Taylor to intervene. Hooper got the better of Leeds’ defence, albeit helped by Silvestri. 6/10

Charlie Taylor: Gave the ball away more than he usually does and wasn’t particularly effective in Wednesday’s half of the pitch. 5/10

Liam Bridcutt: Some of his passing was hit-and-miss and Forestieri was a bit too free outside United’s box but he created some good momentum in patches. 6/10

Stuart Dallas: One of Leeds’ better players. His service from the left was decent but no-one was able to do anything with it. 7/10

Luke Murphy: Went looking for the ball and tried to get on it, to decent effect in the first half. But the game got away from him after the break. 6/10

Lewis Cook: Took up excellent positions inside the box but let himself down by swinging rashly at the ball. Had to score at least one of his opportunities. 6/10

Mustapha Carayol: Ran himself into the ground and caused a bit of trouble in the first half but his better moments were fleeting. 5/10

Souleymane Doukara: Presented with a sitter before half-time and it’s those moments which underline the shortcomings Leeds have up front. 5/10

Substitutes: Alex Mowatt (for Carayol, 70) - Teed up Cooper’s ‘finish’ and then almost laid on a goal for Wootton with the retaken free-kick. Leeds need more of that. 6/10

Mirco Antenucci (for Murphy, 75) - It was surprising that Antenucci didn’t come on earlier. In small moments his threat was evident. 5/10

Subs (not used): Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Lewie Coyle, Sol Bamba, Tom Adeyemi, Lee Erwin.

Sheffield Wednesday: Lewis Price - 6, Jack Hunt - 6, Vincent Sasso - 6, Glenn Loovens - 5, Daniel Pudil - 6, Ross Wallace - 6, Keiran Lee - 6, Sam Hutchinson - 7, Barry Bannan - 6, Fernando Forestieri - 7, Gary Hooper - 8

Substitutes: Lucas Joao (for Forestieri, 77) - 5, Jeremy Helan (for Wallace, 82) - 5, Jose Semedo (for Hooper, 87) - 5

Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire) - Embarrassing. He’ll cringe when he watches his handling of Cooper’s incident back. Wednesday were also aggrieved with his inability to play advantage. 2/10

Attendance: 23,909
